04/27 Zoo Adventure
One of the coolest parts of the day to me was being close up to a lizard. As we were standing on the elephant observation deck, I looked down, and there was a lizard on the rail right in front of me. It was bright green and kept puffing out a little pink part below its chin—I have never seen anything like it. It was a rather beautiful intersection of impressive, large animals in the habitats with simple, small animals in the natural world.
Another cool experience was seeing the alligator that lives at the zoo. I thought no alligator could top the one we caught and measured at the nature center, but I was wrong. This one was massive. We took a picture sitting on the back of the alligator (but this time just a metal statue).
As I wrap up this class, I look back with great gratitude for the gift of 3 hours each week to explore and appreciate the beauty of nature. Although I came in describing myself as "not an outdoorsy person," I can confidently say I have expanded my knowledge, appreciation, and love for the outdoors. Thank you for a wonderful semester!
PS: I stumbled upon this awesome candy wall at the zoo. It reminded me of our time together as a class!
Thanks for getting "outdoorsy" this semester, Kate. I have truly appreciated your contributions and participation, and getting to share these experiences with you. It's been a great class. I love the last photo. That's an impressive display of candy. But I noticed no Swedish Fish.
